In the event of truck accidents, many drivers blame the motorist for causing an accident. However, many truck accident lawyers, when reviewing cases, find truck companies to blame for most causes of trucking accidents. Many truck companies have either mileage incentives or a few drivers who have excessive time on the road without adequate rest.

Some trucking companies put high pressure on truck drivers to ensure certain delivery times. This means that drivers will have to drive as fast as they can to secure an arrival that can result in accident involving a semi-truck,other trucks, cars, bikes, motorcycles,or possibly pedestrians.

So what are the most common causes of trucking accidents?

Driver’s recklessness.

The first cause – drivers who sleep, get tired,or drive too many hours without a break are a severe potential for accidents. Another thing usually unseen but worth mentioning is when truckers are driving behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Another would be when a driver distracted by something like phone texting that could cause the truck to run off the road.

Overload and safety systems.

If the truck itself is overloaded,it may be challenging to maneuver properly because eighteen wheels are difficult to move in any way. If the truck is overloaded, you may end up with the same issue. If the truck has no safety system, weak lights, lack reflectors,or other warning devices, all this could lead to a complicated driving environment. If a truck driver did not give way to traffic,it could cause an accident.

Driver’s skills,licenses,and trucks checkup.

Truckers should always train to maintain their licenses and ensure that their skills are up to date. If they fall behind, there is potential for an accident. Regularly checking the condition of the breaks, the inflation of the tires, along with ensuring the adequacy of the brake lines as well as other checkpoints to ensure safe driving.

Unrealistic deadlines, bad climate conditions, and blind spots.

As mentioned,if a truck driver has a stressful deadline to meet,he or she may only be driving faster to achieve it. If the truck driver is also in more reduced visibility in rain, snow, fog,or potentially smoke,it may be twice as safe to drive. Additional issues to be seen include a truck driver making a full turn unsafe or missing traffic due to a blind spot.

Poor decision-making.

Again,if a truck driver is simply in a hurry to make a deadline for goodwill, then this can lead to poor decision-making and the potential for an accident on the road. It’s no secret driving a truck is a big responsibility. We are talking about a machine that weighs a few tons with eighteen wheels and can altogether remove a small vehicle. Ensuring that the driver is safe, rather than merely trying to make a deadline,is a top priority and keeps safety first.
